Ingredients

1 Beef/Chicken Mince (Qeema) ½ kg
2 Onion 1
3 Roasted Chana / Bhunay Chanay 1 teaspoon
4 Egg 1
5 Yogurt 1 ½ tablespoon
6 Bread Slice 1
7 Green Chili 2 medium
8 Corn flour 1 tablespoon
9 Poppy Seeds / Khashkhash 1 teaspoon
10 Garam Masala Powder 1 teaspoon
11 Salt As taste
12 Red chili powder ½  teaspoon
Gravy / Salan:
1 Salt To taste
2 Red chili powder 1 ½ teaspoon
3 Coriander (dhaniya) powder 1 ½ teaspoon
4 Ginger garlic paste 1 teaspoon
5 Turmeric powder (haldi) ½ teaspoon
6 Oil ½ cup
7 Yogurt ½ cup
8 Chopped onion ¼ cup
9 Fresh coriander leaves (dhaniya) For garnish

 

How to prepare koftay:

  1. Grind (peesna) together chopped onion, green chili, khashkhash and bhunay chanay.
  2. Mix this grinded mixture into chicken/Beef mince.
  3. Add yogurt, bread slice (crumbled / Choora), corn flour, garam masala powder, egg, red chili powder and salt.
  4. Make small rounded balls / koftay of this mixture.

How to Cook Kofta Salan:

  1. Take a pot (deghchi) and heat up oil.
  2. Add chopped onion and fry till golden brown. Add ginger garlic paste while frying and add water.
  3. Now add all the seasoning i.e. coriander, red chili and garam masala powder. Turmeric and salt as well.
  4. Beat the yogurt with a fork and add to the gravy.
  5. Put prepared koftay into the gravy and let it cook on low flame till koftay are done. Dont cover the pot while cooking.
  6. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.

Tip: Serve with freshly baked naan and raita.
