Paanch Daal

A traditional recipe by bhabiskitchen, optimised for great taste, for Daal lovers it will be a treat to eat Paanch Daal cooked by Bhabikitchen’s  recipe!

1 Mash daal ½ cup
2 Moong Daal ½ cup
3 Masoor Daal ½ cup
4 Chana Daal ½ cup
5 Arhar Daal ½ cup
6 salt To taste
7 Red chilli powder 1 tablespoon
8 Garam masala powder 2 tablespoons
9 Garlic 3 cloves, chopped
10 Turmeric powder ½ teaspoon
11 Oil / Ghee ¼ cup
12 Coriander leaves For garnish
13 Green chilies 4 – 5, chopped
14 Ginger 1 tablespoon, grated
15 Cumin / zeera ½ tablespoon

How to Cook Paanch Daal:

  1. Mix all lentils (daalein) together and soak for one hour.
  2. Take a deep pot and add 3 cups of water for boiling
  3. Add salt, turmeric and red chilli powder.
  4. When water starts to boil, add soaked lentils.
  5. Let it cook on low flame. When lentils seem half-cooked, add grated ginger and chopped green chilies and let it cook till the lentils are completely done.
  6. Prepare bhaggaar by heating ghee / oil in a frying pan. Fry garlic till golden and add cumin / zeera.
  7. Pour prepared bhagaar over cooked lentils. Add garam masala powder.
  8. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.

Tip: Serve with chapaati or steamed rice along with fresh green salad.
