Palak Chicken

Give your kids a flavor of chicken with Palak!  A tasty recipe that will make them ask you to cook it for them again and again and again!

1 Chicken ½ kg
2 Spinach 1 big bunch or ½ kg, chopped
3 Onion 1 medium, chopped
4 Tomato 2 medium, chopped
5 Ginger Garlic Paste 1 tablespoon
6 Turmeric Powder ½ teaspoon
7 Red Chili Powder 1 teaspoon
8 Coriander Powder 1 teaspoon
9 Salt To taste (use less than usual since spinach is salty)
10 Garam Masala Powder ½ teaspoon
11 Lemon Juice 1 teaspoon
12 Fresh Coriander Leaves For garnish
13 Green Chilies For garnish (chopped or whole)
14 Oil As needed

Procedure for Cooking Palak Chicken:

  1. Heat oil in a pot (pateeli) and fry onion till golden.
  2. Add chicken and stir fry till color changes. Add ginger garlic paste while frying.
  3. Now add chopped tomatoes along with all seasoning. Fry for 2-3 minutes then add chopped spinach (palak) along with ½ cup of water.
  4. Cover the pot and let it cook on medium flame till spinach becomes tender & chicken is thoroughly cooked.
  5. Before serving, sprinkle coriander (dhaniya), chillies and lemon juice.

Tip: Serve with Naan or Chapati or with steamed rice.
